Always upbeat smiling expressive actress Marlee Matlin received her own star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on a hot sunny Los Angeles day.
Marlee was welcomed by mostly "silent" but expressive crowd of fans who share hearing impairment like she does. Their enthusiasm showed how Marlee has been their inspiration.
Actor/producer Henry Winkler who is also Marlee's long time friend and mentor fondly recalled how Marlee used to stay at his house when she was starting out in Hollywood. He also read a copy of the poem Marlee wrote when she was only 12 which stated that She was sure she will be a movie star someday.
Marlee made her acceptance speech by using sign language which was translated by an interpreter.
Fellow celeb guests actress Jennifer Beals, Marissa Jaret Winokur, professional dancer Fabian Sanchez (Marlee's partner at "Dancing with the Stars"), Anne Sweeney (Disney/ABC TV executive) all showed up to support Marlee. You can see the group photo I posted here.
