Last night at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles was a great night for autographs. the great Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders were playing over there and we went over to check it out and try to get some autographs.
We had went to the premiere in Hollywood for "Last House on the Left" so we missed the show (we also know that they are on Jimmy Kimmell tonight) but we went to go and see if she would sign for us after the show. She is notoriously difficult with fans and lots of collector's know it. But we got there at like 1030 and waited....and waited and waited. it was like they had all left early. There were only a couple of collectors there milling about with albums and everything. At around 1230 she finally came out with the band.
There are only two original members of the band left alive and they were nice. Chrissie was HAMMERED drunk and came out with TWO drinks in her hand (just like you can see in the pictures).. She grabbed some guy's black sharpie and went to town signing everything we could hand her and then some...it was actually pretty sweet. She took photos with fans (even though i didn't go to the show last night, I've seen them live a couple of times. And when we bought a guitar for my wife, she didn't know specifically what guitar she wanted, she told the salesman that she just wanted something that would make her "sound like Chrissie Hynde") and was really nice. She made some passing comments that were super sweet and then she finished up with, and I can totally quote her on this," We aren't usually this nice, I don't normally sign autographs...But we're drunk, and in a good mood." So I guess this would sum up my title, yeah?
