On December 10th, 2008, it was announced that American Idol 7th place finisher Kristy Lee Cook and her record label, Arista Nashville, had parted ways. There will apparently not be any new singles released from Cook's second album "Why Wait".
Here, Kristy Lee Cook (right) hangs out with the fans before the first concert at the Newark, NJ stop at the Prudential Center on the American Idols Live! Tour 2008 this past summer. On tour, she sang three songs, crowd-catcher "Squeezin' the Love Outta You" (Redmon and Vale), poignant "God Bless the USA," (Lee Greenwood), and finally the sassy "Cowgirls" (Kerry Harvick). Surprisingly, Cook pleased the thousands of fans gathered every night of the tour with her sass and country-crooning vocals.
"Why Wait" has merely sold a disappointing 25,000 copies since it's release on September 16th, 2008. It did peak at the number 8 slot on U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums, and its lead single "15 Minutes of Shame" reached number 28 on US Country charts.
