I got the chance to speak with Ann Curry outside of the Today Show this morning after the crew had gone inside to get out of the rain.
She walked around and spent at least 10 minutes with various groups of people giving out hugs, handshakes, and heartfelt conversation to the loyal fans who stuck it out despite the nasty weather.
When Ann came over to our group I got pretty excited and started calling her "Meredith". She stood and talked with me for about 15 minutes and the entire time I kept saying "Meredith" this and "Meredith" that.
She moved on to shake the hand of a California firefighter (pictured here) and as soon as I realized my mistake I shouted out an apology.
Ann came back over and gave me a hug and said "Don't worry it happens all the time. Meredith is great, I don't mind being mistaken for her.
There are much worse things that you could call me". She was so gracious but I was mortified. Ann Curry is an Emmy Award Winning journalist and I called her by the wrong name!
