Rumors were swirling that Craig Robinson (Daryl from “The Office”) was going to be performing stand-up at Caroline’s Comedy Club in NYC last weekend. Normally I wouldn’t think twice about going, but my friends were in from out of town and are huge fans of his. The problem was, we didn’t have tickets and the show started in 2 hours.
I called the club and tried to get 4 tickets but they said they were completely sold out due to high demand. I figured it was time for “Plan B”.
We grabbed a quick dinner and arrived at Caroline’s about 45 minutes before the show. There was a huge line outside the door about 50 people deep. We decided to cut the line and go up to the bouncer at the door. I dropped the owners name and said he was a good friend of mine and the bouncers let us right in. (I called the club on the taxi ride over there and asked what the owners name was).
Not only did we not have to wait in line or pay, but we got ushered to the 2nd best seats in the house. The reason I say “2nd best” is because sitting in front of us in the “best seats” were Jeremy Piven with a hot a blond date and Brooke Shields cuddling up with her husband (not that good looking).
After a couple decent opening acts, Craig came on stage and rocked the house. His stand up act is him sitting with a keyboard, a few musicians behind him, and just doing a bunch of improv songs. He even had a couple guests come on stage with him to perform – the guys from Flight of the Concord and Jeremy Piven hopped on stage and played the drums.
Daryl…errrrr…Craig is amazing. I wish he had a bigger role on The Office. How funny is it when Kelly called him on the phone to break up after 2 years of dating and he was like “OK”? He didn’t even care!!! So classic Daryl.

Archive - I was there too! I went with my bf, and his friends from Phoenix. One of this friends had wayyyyyyyyy too much to drink and ended up being the loud one in the audience that everyone is like "ummm, can someone tell him to be quiet?" sukkkkkaaaaaaaaaaa
