I was waiting with a friend on a rainy spring night to try and meet a few celebrities that were in town at their hotel in Central Park. All of a sudden a black van screached to a stop in front of the hotel when I looked up and screamed at my friend, "BILLY JOEL!" Sure enough it was the Piano Man himself, along with his wife Katie Lee and another couple. They seemed to have been dropping off the other couple at the hotel after a night out on the town in NYC!! After kissing and hugging goodbyes, I asked Billy for a picture and an autograph. He agreed to both begrudgingly, but I didn't care. Billy didn't really say much, but gave me a bit of that New York attitude he is sometimes famous for. In a way he sort of knew that he was in NY and that people are pushy, even when it comes to getting autographs from stars. He is one of the biggest musicians in the last 50 years, especially in the NYC area, making it extra special, beyond the fact that it was a completely random sighting.
