Former Houston Rocket and new Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest held a BBQ for a few hand selected fans (from twitter) at Dockweiler Beach. I got there around 1:30 pm and Ron was just arriving. He and his friends had brought all the food and all the supplies needed for the BBQ. After helping set everything up he went on to play tag football with a few of the fans. After that he came back to the bon fire and helped cook some hot dogs... that actually ended up tasting AMAZING! After hanging out and chatting with a few people, he went down by the water to check out the waves. That's when I went by and with about three other people around us, took my photo with him. Afterward, he came back by everyone and played Monopoly with some people. I didn't get in on the action quick enough, so as they were playing the Laker themed board game, I snapped a photo. I guess he is serious about his board games because he was really into it. As it started getting dark, he put some burgers on the grill. He made only three and one ended up falling on the floor. He ate it as we all stood around the bon fire. As a fan asked him if he was going to open up his own restaurant, Ron laughed and said his burger did not taste good and that he wouldn't advise anyone to try the 2nd one. He was a very funny, down to earth guy. He has a mean image on the basketball court, but the hand selected few of us learned that that is all it is, an image.
