Yankee Stadium was the setting for the first game of the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. Among the guest in attendance for the first World Series game of 2009 were Michelle Obama and Jill Biden , who accompanied Yogi Berra to the mound for the ceremonial first pitch of the game. Sitting in her customary seat along the 3rd base line was the New York Yankees good luck charm Kate Hudson. Kate was sitting next to her step dad Kurt Russell cheering on A-Rod and the Yankees. Unfortunately Kate's charm was not enough on this night as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Yankees 6-1 in a game played in rain.
